At JUNONA, we believe that beauty should never come at the cost of cruelty.
Animal Welfare Policy
1. Introduction: Our company is committed to sustainable and ethical production, following the highest animal welfare standards. We understand that using animal-derived materials carries with it the responsibility to source them ethically and with care for the welfare of the animals. Therefore, we strive to be transparent in our practices and to ensure that all animal-derived materials come from certified and ethical sources.
2. Vision and Goals: Our vision for animal welfare is inextricably linked to our brand values—respect, empathy, and responsibility. We believe animals should be treated with dignity and care and promote sustainable and ethical practices throughout our supply chain.
Our key commitments include:
• Limited use of animal-derived materials—We only use animal-derived materials when necessary and always strive for sustainable alternatives.
• Strict supplier selection—We only work with licensed and certified suppliers who comply with international animal welfare standards, such as the Responsible Wool Standard (RWS) and the Good Cashmere Standard (GCS).
• Transparency—We provide information about the origin of the materials and strive to inform our customers about our ethical practices.
• Continuous improvement—We are committed to the research and development of sustainable materials and actively seek ways to reduce, refine, and replace the use of materials of animal origin.
• Social responsibility—Our team supports initiatives to protect and rescue distressed animals, working in collaboration with animal protection organizations.
Concrete steps in this direction:
• Our wool product will clearly describe its origin and animal welfare certificates.
• We will explore the possibility of certifying the cashmere we use under the Good Cashmere Standard (GCS) to ensure sustainability and ethics in its extraction.
• We will continue investing in sustainable alternatives to animal-derived materials without compromising quality and aesthetics.
3. Animal Welfare Principles
• No live shearing of lambs (mulesing) – We strongly reject the practice of mulesing and insist on humane alternatives that ensure the health and well-being of the animals. We support the banning of this painful and unethical procedure.
• Material traceability—We work exclusively with suppliers certified by the Responsible Wool Standard (RWS), which guarantees responsible and humane sheep farming without forced procedures. 100% of the wool used is RWS-certified, ensuring transparency and high ethical standards. Certificate: ICA-RAF-24-4483/00A.
• Ethical farms—We support farms that allow animals to move freely, receive adequate nutrition, and receive veterinary care.
• Audits and certification – Our suppliers are subject to regular independent inspections for compliance with animal welfare standards.
• Transparency – We ensure that our customers have access to information about the origin of our wool and the processes through which it is obtained.
4. Animal Welfare Positions and Commitments Our policy is based on the Five Domains Model, created by Professor Emeritus David Mellor and adapted by FOUR PAWS as a tool for assessing animal welfare. This model considers both negative and positive experiences of animals to ensure an overall positive balance of their quality of life.
We do not use materials of animal origin, including valuable and exotic fur, and we are committed to adapting our work to the latest scientific research. Our main goal is to minimize negative experiences (hunger, fear, pain) and stimulate positive emotions (comfort, playfulness, social interactions).
5. Policy Implementation and Reporting of Results To ensure the effective implementation of animal welfare policies, JUNONA implements specific measures and establishes mechanisms for reporting violations. The company management fully supports and approves this policy, ensuring its dissemination and implementation among all employees.
In its pursuit of continuous improvement, JUNONA conducts an annual review of goals, publicly announcing progress and challenges. We actively participate in caring fashion initiatives and work with humane experts to keep up with industry progress and contribute to developing sustainable solutions.
Animal welfare certificates are stored in a strict document management system, ensuring traceability and transparency.
6. Publication and communication Our policy will be communicated through:
• The official website is published in the sustainable practices section.
• Social media – ethical production campaigns.
• Press releases – distribution to media and stakeholders.
• Product labels and packaging – markings for responsibly sourced wool.
• Certification documents – provision of certificates to prove our standards.
